Ten sessions of bodywork (Structural Integration) is the best place to start to address chronic issues, new or old, obvious and hidden, intense or mild. Get to the next level of fluid movements and a pain-free life with a "system upgrade" designed to take you to the next level. The process takes approximately 10 weeks; one session a week is optimal. The 10 series can be repeated, as long as a year has elapsed in between.
Structural Integration can help with the scar tissue and bring tremendous relief. Depending how much scarring there is, it may be possible to incorporate scar tissue work into a regular ten-series, but often scar tissue requires 1-3 separate sessions. Scar tissue can and will change with the right touch, regardless of how old it is.
As long as a few months have passed since the surgery (ideally, it's best to wait about 6 months after major surgery), scar tissue work may be done, and is light, pleasant, and painless.
More detailed information on scar tissue work can be found on the FAQ page.
Your mental/emotional health is intimately tied to your physical health. That is a fact. As a result, Structural Integration can significantly improve your emotional awareness and overall health.
Just as there are emotional habits, there are physical habits and when one changes so does the other. For example, most unpleasant feelings come with a sense of a lack of space, a lack of options. When someone is anxious, they will not be using their full lung capacity. If their rib cage is opened, and suddenly this person can breath with more ease and comfort, their anxiety will almost immediately diminish even if the emotional triggers remain the same. People can handle emotional stress and are generally more pleasant to be around when their bodies are relaxed, comfortable, and functioning without unnecessary physical stress., tension, and discomfort The changes made in Structural Integration work are deep. They offer far more than a temporary state of relaxation. In our work together, your basic physical patterns will improve to create a more ease, both physically and emotionally.
After having completed a 10 series (doesn't matter if it was 40 years ago), advanced work can be done in a mini series of 3 or 5 sessions. These top-ups (especially the 5 series) are designed for an already well-organized body. This mini series is great for athletes and for clients who use their bodies in specialized and demanding ways.
Following a 10 series, it is best to wait about a year to let the changes integrate. The top-ups can address changes over time and new issues that may have arisen since your last 10 series. Top-ups will continue to bring your structure to a more optimal place and will continue provide overall improved health.
For those who would like to go deeper, in addition to the 10 series of Structural Integration, we offer private exercise consultation, creating tailored exercises to reinforce our work and continue the benefits of Structural Integration at home or at the gym. The exercises are tailored to you, your needs, and your body type.
This option is ideal for those who are committed to making big changes in their life and have the time, energy, and resources to invest in themselves and their future.
If you have a background in bodywork or health fields and are interested in learning more about becoming a Structural Integration practitioner, two-year apprenticeships are available. Please contact us.
